Country Garden with Swimming Pool

PROJECT INFO: Large Country Garden

LOCATION: Windsor, Berkshire

Stunning country house with over an acre of gardens within a ten acre site.

A more formal approach was taken around the house with box and yew hedging used to define the spaces, the white bark of multi stem silver birches provide winter interest.  A predominately green and white planting scheme was used for this part of the site. Mature hornbeam cones were imported from Holland, creating a strong focal point for the garden.

An avenue of chanticleer frames the driveway and entrance to the stables. The garden incorporates a children's play space, trees, long grass and 'floating' instant yew hedge panels placed between silver birches to soften the impact of the play frame.

For Spring interest a 'tulip meadow' of black, white and pink tulips have been planted in long / rough grass. Spring flowering trees and narcissus add further interest.

A pool room with a brick wall positioned at one end with hedges on two other sides create an enclosed private space. Olives and perennials were used to create a Mediterranean feel for this part of the garden.

On the site boundary tall perennials are grasses were positioned intentionally to make the most of the low evening light in late Summer and Autumn, being backlit by the sun when viewed from the house.

100 + trees and extensive evergreen and deciduous hedging plants were planted to define the boundaries and different areas within the garden.
